More often than not family members, when faced with the responsibility of finding a quality home health care provider, are presented with many important decisions. One of the most important decisions is whether to use a Home Health Care Agency or a Home Health Care Registry.In the State of Florida, Home Health Agencies are required by law to use “employee” caregivers. Nurse Registries on the other hand are required to use independent caregivers to provide in home services. The differences are considerable!

Expicare Nursing is a licensed home nursing agency, rather than a nurse registry. There are a number of important differences between a home nursing agency and a nurse registry. Be Sure you know the difference before you hire a company to care for you or your loved ones.

Business Relationship
Expicare Nursing hires their caregivers and does not use independent contractors. Expicare provides training and continuing education.
Registries ONLY use independent contractors and they do not provide training or education.
Supervision of Caregiver
Expicare provides supervisory visits by an R.N. to oversee all work done in the home. We do not charge for this service.
Registries are not required to supervise their caregivers. They will do so, if requested for an additional cost.
Responsibility of Payroll Taxes
Expicare takes full responsibility for: Social Security and payroll taxes including unemployment.
Registries use independent contractors no employees THEY DO NOT TAKE OUT TAXES. The patient could be responsible for paying all employees taxes and benefits.
Insurance
Expicare Nursing provides their client and employees with full insurance coverage. They maintain: Professional Liability & Malpractice, Workers Compensation, Comprehensive General Liability, Automobile and Non-owned Automobile coverage, Crime Bond.
Nurse Registries do not carry Workers Compensation nor do they carry a blanket of Malpractice Insurance. Their workers are not Bonded for criminal acts.
Quality Assurance
Expicare conducts a Quality Assurance Program required by the State of Florida. Expicare Nursing is a member of: Home Care Association of Florida, Home Care Association of America, and the Better Business Bureau.
Nurse Registries have NO Quality Assurance Program.
